Warning to African American renters: Proceed with caution. My partner and I (both African American) recently inquired about leasing a space at the Edgewood location for a spa. We were shown the property by Todd stated that if we emailed him he would provide us with the next steps. We followed his instructions and sent over our email as requested—but then, complete silence. No follow-up. No response to emails calls, or texts. After more than a week with no contact, my partner asked a white colleague to inquire about the same space. Not only did she get a prompt response, but she was also guided through the process that we were essentially shut out of. This kind of discriminatory behavior is unacceptable—especially in neighborhoods that were historically Black and are now being rapidly gentrified. Realtors like this hold gatekeeping power and must be held accountable when that power is misused. To the company: Discrimination, whether overt or subtle, is not just unethical—it’s disgusting. Proper training in ethics, diversity, and fair housing practices is long overdue.
